Standerfer, Internals Indexing Fixture Safety Evaluation Report, Revision 2 This letter is in response to revision 3 of your Internals Indexing Fixture (IIF) Safety Evaluation Report (reference a).
Revision 3 of the safety evaluation expanded the operating window of the IIF processing system by including provisions to continue operations during the period after plenum removal.
The safety aspects of IIF processing system operations as described in reference (b) are not changed by removal of the plenum assembly from the reactor vessel. Additionally, the proposed expanded operating scope of the IIF processing system does not change the evaluation as it applies to the Programatic Environmental Impact Statement. We, therefore, approve revision 3 of the IIF Processing System Safety Evaluation Report subject to our approval of specific operating procedures as required by section 6.8.2 of the TMI Technical Specifications.
