Dear Mr. Hickey:
In regard to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission plans for performing the regulatory surveillance at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant at Piketon, Ohio upon the privatization of the site,I have the following questions:
- 1. Will the NRC continue to file all air monitoring readings with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Division of Air Pollution Control, for their annual Ohio Air Quality Reports?
Included also would be reports to the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency (Region 182)?
- 2. Will reports be filed with the Toxic Release Inventory agency at Arlington, VA of any toxic substance released to the environment at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant site?
- 3. Will all hazardous substances handled at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant be listed in the "Right to Know" program (resourced through the New Jersey Department of Health) and specifically listed as being handled or used at the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant?
4.
Will the NRC be reporting any nuclear, toxic, and hazardous releases to the environment on a (say) monthly basis, and will these reports be readily available to the public?
- 5. What plans will be operable within the community to warn of releases of hydrogen fluoride to the atmosphere or uranium hexafluoride to the outfalls and creeks?
- 6. Will the NP.C continue to produce the annual Site Environmental Report of the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant?
