Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 10CFR50.46 Reporting Requirements Gentlemen:
General Electric Company (GE) recently had discussions with the NRC staff regarding reporting of changes and errors in approved ECCS evaluation models as required by 10CFR50.46(a)(3)(l) and (ii), and has informed us about these issues via GE letter to PECO Energy dated November 9,1996. Since the 1988 revision to 10 CFR 50.46, GE has been compiling all changes and errors in approved GE ECCS evaluation methods and providing that information to the NRC and to licensees on an annual basis. The NRC staff has informed GE that each licensee must file its own annual report for each licensed plant. Therefore, this letter provides the latest information involving Limerick Generating Station (LGS) Units 1 and 2 in accordance with 10 CFR 50.46 (a)(3)(1) and (ii).
On May 31,1996, PECO Energy confirmed with GE that the total accumulation of peak clad temperature (PCT) changes or errors identified as being applicable to LGS, Units 1 and 2, is 45'F. After adding this value to the licensing basis PCT determined in the 1993 SAFER analyses, there is still approximately 500'F of margin to the 2200*F limit specified in 10CFR50.46. The upper bound PCT also remains below the 1600*F limit specified in the NRC acceptance of the SAFER /GESTR methodology.
