In accordance with the NRC's recommendation provided in Section 3.3.1 of NUREG-1482 regarding 120-month updates required by 10CFR50.55a(f)(4)(ii), Public Service l
Electric and Gas (PSE&G) is informing the NRC that Hope Creek Generating Station is i
extending it's first ten-year Pump and Valve Inservice Testing (IST) interval by a period of twelve (12) months. The current interval was scheduled to end on December 20,1996.
1 The additional twelve months will extend this interval through December 20,1997.

The current ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code applicable to Hope Creek Generating Station is the 1933 Edition, Summer 1983 Addenda.Section XI, Paragraph IWA-2400(c) of the code states that "each inspection interval may be decreased or extended (but not cumulatively) by as much as 1 year." Despite the extension, an acceptable level of quality and safety are assured. The current IST Program is in accordance with the 1983 Edition, Summer 1983 Addenda of the ASME Code which has been endorsed by 10CFR50.55(a).
