VISIT BY JIM DAVIS, NEI, ON DECEMBER 11, 1996 1
On Monday afternoon, December 9, 1996, Mr. Jim Davis, Director, Operations, NEI, called to ask if he could stop by my office on Wednesday, December 11, 1996, to introduce himself since he will now be handling security issues for NEI.
I agreed to see him and, due to the short notice, I was unable to notice the meeting. However, I will place this memorandum in the PDR.
On Wednesday, December 11, 1996, I met with Jim Davis.
I explained that meetings with NEI representatives are normally noticed and are open to the public. However, since'this meeting was primarily for introductions, it was acceptable to meet in my office, but any discussion would have to be limited to very general comments on a general status of current activities.
Consequently, the discussions only covered the organizational structures and responsibilities of NEI and NRC, the general schedules and anticipated completion' dates for several rule changes affecting security, and the anticipated completion date for our review of NEI's 95-01 that provides guidance on access' authorization program.
i Mr. Davis did inform me that the Security Working Group is no longer active for the present time.
Mr. Davis and I both agreed that a meeting in the near future would be beneficial and that the agenda should include discussions of current priorities, both NRC's and NEI's and that any particular concerns or plans could be covered at that time.
