and Discussion Session, and I ask the Secretary to lead us 4
through the items on the agenda.

Mr. Chairman, before the Commission can 6
address the items, I wonder if the Commission would vote to 7
hold these two items,85-295 and 85-178, on less than one 8
week's notice.

The first item is SECY 85-178, it's the 15 final amendment for the uranium mill tailings rule to 16 implement EPA's stability in radon release standards.
In this 17 paper, the Commission is being asked to approve the final 18 amendments to 10 CFR Part 40 that conform to and implement I
19 stability in radon release provisions of the EPA's final 20 standards for uranium authority in mill tailings.
21 All Commissioners approved the final amendments as j
22 contained in SECY 85-178.

is being asked to act on an order that announces that the 6
Commission will defer indefinitely the publication of an 7
opinion explaining the Commission's 11 June order decision 8
requiring Lilco, in the Shoreham case, to treat part of its 1
9 alternate AC system as vital equipment.
10 All Commissioners have approved that order.
