Dear Sir:
Raychem Corporation has determined that certain lots of Auto-Trace 20PIV1 Self Regulating Electric Heat Trace and its associated derivatives (20FIVI-C,18FIVI-CT, and 20FIVl-CT) may have a slightly lower than specified power output. These products are sold by Payche to sme nuclear generating stations as a part of the electric pipe heating system for maintaining elevated temperatures in pipes and vessels.
For many applications, this slightly lower power output could mean only a small (five-ten percent) higher duty cycle; i.e the heat trace would be on a higher portion of the time. For sme applications, where the heat trace is on 100 percent of the time, it may mean a lower maintenance tmperature.
Raychem is following procedures adopted pursuant to 10CFR21. We have identified the questionable lots and are in the process of informing the licensees who have received those lots of material. We will advise the of the nature of the probim and the procedures to determine if there is any affect on their operations.
