SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE REINSPECTION RESULTS FOR THE CORE SHROUD VERTICAL WELDS - EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. M95359)
Dear Mr. Beckham:
1 By letter dated May 7,1996, you submitted the reinspection results and flaw evaluations for the core shroud vertical welds of Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit 1.
You reported the discovery of indications associated with welds V5 and V6.
i Also, by letter dated July 16, 1996, you supplemented the original submittal with your response to the staff's request for additional information.
Based i-on your evaluation of the indications, using linear elastic fracture mechanics and limit load analysis, you concluded that the indications are well below the allowable lengths.
4 Based on the enclosed safety evaluation, the NRC staff finds that your flaw evaluation is acceptable.
This completes our action regarding the above TAC.
