~ Fcrt Calhoun Station Unit No.1 f EMERGENCY PLAN IMPLEMENTING PROCEDURE EPID-0SC-12 Accidental Actuation of Early Warning Siren System I. PURPOSE To provide a method which can infom the public quickly of "no emergency" should an accidental sounding of the siren system occur.

II. PREREQUISITES A. Verify an emergency does not exist.

B. Confim one or more sirens are sounding.

C. Obtain the authentification code word from the hy locker.

III. PRECAUTIONS A. Speak slowly and distinctly. The communication may be taped for

( rebroadcast.

IV. PROCEDURE A. Obtain name, telephone number and location of the caller reporting siren sounding.

B. Attempt to detemine how many have sounded and if siren (s) has stopped at caller's location.

If the County Communication Center was not the original caller, contact the appropriate county sheriffs office. Infom them that the siren warning system has accidently sounded but there is no emergency at Fort Calhoun Station.

C. Contact Communication Dept. (Phone: Work Days, ff Hours) that siren has sounded accident y and requires shut-of or repair.

D. Notify Plant Manager or the Outy Supervisor to perfom Step E. If the Plant Manager or Duty Supervisor cannot be reached within five minutes, the Shift Supervisor will perfom Step E.

E. Notify the EOF Information Specialist or his designated alternate. -  !

cannot be reached within five minutes, perfom steps (1) thru (3) below.

2. Identify yourself and give the purpose of the call.

3. Verbally provide the following "no emergency" message exactly as printed:

" Sirens of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station emergency system are l accidentally sounding. However, no emergency has occurred at the plant.  !

Repeating, no emergency has occurred at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station. The sirens you may hear were sounded accidentally. The siren  ;

alert may be disregarded as plant conditions are nomal and there is .

no emergency at the Fort Calhoun Station."
