October 10, 1996 CHAIRMAN The Honorable Terry Concannon Mr. Evan Woollacott Co-Chairs Nuclear Energy Advisory Council Room 4035 Legislative Office Building Capitol Avenue Hartford, Connecticut 06106

Dear Ms. Concannon and Mr. Woollacott:

I am responding to your letter of September 18, 1996, which described the charter for the Nuclear Energy Advisory Council (NEAC) and invited me to participate in a meeting with NEAC on October 10, 1996, in Higganum, Connecticut. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. However, on September 30, 1996, members of the NRC staff spoke with you about topics for presentation by the NRC, and representatives of the NRC Headquarters and Region I staffs are planning to attend the meeting to make their presentations i

and answer the Council's questions.

I am confident that the meeting will be a good forum for the NRC and NEAC to exchange information.

Sincerely, b

Shirley Ann Jackson 9610250228 961010 I
