Keppler, Administrator U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region III 799 Roosevelt Road Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 Perry Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 70-2968 Materials License No. SNM-1928 Follow-up of 10CFR 70.52 Report

Dear Mr. Keppler:

This letter is provided as follow-up documentation of our investigation into the unaccounted for absence of one Intermediate Range Monitor (IRM), which was identified to you in a letter dated May 3, 1985, under the reporting requirements of 10 CFR 70.52.

It has been determined that GE cannot identify the discrepancy between the shipping papers for 8 IRM's and the receipt of only 7 IRM's.

To rectify this, GE will be supplying us another IRM to replace the IRM that was identified from the shipping papers as being absent. Because this absence appears to be a shipping error, further inquiry, if necessary, should be referred to GE representative Gaylord Allen (216-259-3737; ext. 6027)

Very truly yours, h

Murra R. Edelman Vice President Nuclear Group MRE:nje
