Dear Mr. Parks:
In accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the initial certification decision for the 4
U.S. Enrichment Corporation to operate the two gaseous diffusion plants I
located at Paducah, Kentucky, and at Piketon, Ohio.
l Enclosed is the notice of issuance of the certification decision which is J
being published in the Federal Reaister.
l We appreciate the assistance which the Department of Energy (00E) has provided to NRC on the certificate process.
As previously agreed, NRC intends to l
assume regulatory ' jurisdiction over the plants from the Department on March 3, 1997.
We look forward to continued cooperation with DOE during the transition l
period.
