Dear Ms. Butler:

This is in reply to your letter of April 16, 1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), copies of Biennial Quality Audits for 1978, 1980, and 1982, and an Independent Design Verification of 1982 for the Midland nuclear power plant.

Our technical staff has informed us that NRC did not require the performance of any biennial quality audits. However, we do have a copy of an evaluation report which Consumers Power Company sent to the NRC, and which was previously placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR),1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555. The enclosed appendix lists this document (Item 3), as well as three other reports in the PDR, evaluations performed by TERA Corp. which may be the independent design verification documents you are seeking.

We are enclosing a notice that explains procedures and charges for obtaining documents from the PDR.
