Subject:

Vermont Yankee Radiation Exposure Control Program for the Recirculation Pipe Replacement Project (Generic Letter 84-07)

Dear Sir:

Generic Letter 84-07 [ Reference (b)] requested that licensees planning to replace recirculation system piping provide a description of the radiation protection program prior to initiating their pipe replacement project. By letter dated April 22, 1985 [ Reference (c)], Vermont Yankee transmitted a description of the engineering, design, procurement, removal and installation activities associated with the replacement of the Vermont Yankee Recirculation System and portions of the Residual Heat Removal System scheduled to begin in September 1985.

Attachment A to this letter provides the " Vermont Yankee Radiation Exposure Control Program," for the planned pipe replacement project. The Radiation Exposure Control Program (RECP) has been developed to ensure that occupational radiation exposures and releases of radioactive materials in effluents to unrestricted areas are as low as is reasonably achievable in accordance with 10CFR50 Part 20 requirements.

We trust this information is satisfactory; however, should you have any questions or require additional information, please contact us.

Very truly yours, VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION 8506040355 850531 f'W- //
