Dear Mr. Denton:
,Concerning DSER Item 101, Inadvertent Boron Dilution, we have performed a.
failure mode analysis for the chemical and volume control' system which de.monstrates that the calculated minimum time intervals available (time interval-between an alarm announcing an unplanned moderator dilution and the time of loss of shutdown margin) for the operator to take appropriate corrective actions will meet the acceptance criteria of SRP Section 15.4.6, i.e., at least 15 minutes. The' primary instrument used to detect this event is the' safety-grade source range. The FSAR will be revised
'accordingly via FSAR Amendment 17, which is scheduled for July 1985.
