NRC INSPECTION NO. 50-333/93-02
An announced safety inspection of the radiation protection program at your facility was
conducted by hir. J. Furia of this office on February 1-5, 1993. The inspection findings
were discussed with you and members of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection on
February 5,1993.
Areas examined during this inspection are important to health and safety and included the
radiation protection program, as described in the NRC Region ! Inspection Report which is
enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective
examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and
observations by the inspector.
Notable strengths were observed in your ALARA and radwaste/ transportation programs.
Weaknesses were identified in your control of radioactive material, radiological incident
corrective actions, and decontamination programs. Discussions with your staffindicated that
actions are being developed to address these weaknesses, which also had been identified by
your staff as needing attention.
