REQUEST FOR WITHHOLDING ItFORMATION FP.0M PUBLIC DISCLOSURE DATED-FEBRUARY 5, 1993 By your letter-and affidavit dated February 5,1993, you submitted:the slides that were used'during the Westinghouse presentations to the staff on Febru-ary 5, 1993 on the AP600 valves and requested that.the-slides designated as-proprietary be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790.

You stated that the submitted information should be considered exempt from mandatory public disclosure for the following reasons:

1.

The information reveals the distinguishing aspects of a process (or compo-nent, structure, tool, method, etc.) where prevention of its use by any of Westinghouse's_ competitors without license from Wastinghouse constitutes a-competitive econ?mic advantage over other'ccmpanies..

2.

Its use by a competitor would reduce his expenditure of resources or improve his competitive position in the design, manufacture, shipment, installation, assurance of quality, of licensing a s1milar product.

We have reviewed your letter and-the material in accordance with the require-ments of 10-CFR 2.790 and, on the-basis of-your statements,'have determined that the submitted information sought to be withheld contains trade secrets or proprietary commercial information. Therefore, the submitted information marked as' proprietary will be withheld from public disclosure pursuant to 10 CFR 2.790(b)(5).and Section 103(b) of the Atomic Energy Act 'of 1954,_as amended.
