WASTE SOLIDIFICATION SYSTEMS INTERMEDIATE MILESTONE 20-5706-003-605, REVIEW 0F DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR COMPLETION OF THE WEST VALLEY DEMONSTRATION PROJECT, DATED AUGUST 27, 1996
Dear Mr. Sridhar:
I have reviewed the referenced submittal and find the submittal to be acceptable. The submittal reviews the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) alternatives, from the point of view of public and worker radiological health and safety, through the comparison of DEIS content with 10 CFR Part 61 performance objectives and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission proposed draft rule on decommissioning and decontamination criteria.
The report sufficiently reviewed the areas agreed upon by the technical monitor.
The Center showed initiative in suggesting some areas of review during the development stage of the report.
The Center also demonstrated understanding of critiques on recent reports wn. the report displaying better technical editing and the addition of a reasonable and complete executive summary.
