Dear Mr. Chairman:
Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4, 1933, amended Section 189 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to issue and make immediately effective Iany amendment to an operating license upon a determination by the Comission that such amendment involves no signJ ficant hazards' consideration, notwithsta';. ding the pendency before the Coraission of a request for a Learing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every 30 days) pablish notice of any amendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Commission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no cignificant hazards considerations, which was published in the ESAf 3 1 Eng)&tgr on December 23, 1932 (57 FR 61105).
