Dear Mr. Scnnell:

This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. B. L. Bartlett

and Ms. D. R. Calhoun of this office from December 1,1992 through January 31,

1993, of activities at Callaway Plant, Unit 1, authorized by NRC Operating

License NPF-30, and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. W. R. Campbell

and others of your staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during

the inspection.

Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective

examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and

interviews with personnel.

During this inspection certain of your activities appeared to be in violation

of NRC requirements.

However,-as described in the enclosed inspection report

you identified this violation. Therefore, the violation will not be subject

to enforcement action because your efforts in identifying and correcting the

violations meet the criterie specified in Section VII.B. of the " General

Statement of Policy and Procedures for NRC Enforcement Actions," (Enforcement

Policy, 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C).

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of

this letter and the enclosed inspection report will. be placed in;the NRC

Public Document Room.

We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection. -
