Dear Mr. Knubel:

By a letter dated Se'ptember 21, 1995, GPU Nuclear Corporation (GPUN) submitted l

its Third 10-Year Interval Inservice Testing (IST) Program for Pumps and Valves. The staff had conference calls with your staff on February 12, May 6, and August 22, 1996, discussing the proposed relief requests.

GPUN submitted a revision to the third 10-year 151 submittal dated May 23, 1996, which made the following changes to the 10-year program submittal:

Requests P1, P2, P3, and PG3; withdrew Relief Requests PG1, PG2, V1, V2, V3, V4, and V5; and added Relief Request P4.

Evaluations of Relief Requests P1, j

P2, P3, P4, PG3, and VG1 are included in the enclosed Safety Evaluation (SE).

The staff has reviewed the proposed relief requests referenced above and other relevant sections of the IST program against the requirements of Section XI of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code pursuant.to paragraph 50.55a of Part 50 to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The results of the review are provided in the attached SE. This
