This letter transmits the report of the resident safety inspection by' MessrsiL. Rossbach and
P. Sena at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pennsylvania. The reporting .
period covers from December 22,1992, to January 25,1993. The inspectio_n consisted of
document reviews, interviews, and observation of activities important to public health and
safety. The findings were summarized and discussed with you and other members of your=
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Overall, both units continued to be operated safely and conservatively. Your staff identified
an instance where proper senior reactor operator staffing was_'not maintained in' the Unit 1
. control room for a very brief period of time. This violation is not being cited because' of i.ts
minor safety significance and the isolated nature of the incident.
