NRC NAMES DR. GEORGE M. HORNBERGER TO ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON NUCLEAR WASTE The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has' appointed Dr. George M.
Hornberger, a professor at the University of Virginia, to the Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste (ACNW).
' Dr. Hornberger is the Ernest H. Ern Professor of Environmental Sciences L
at the University of Virginia, whose faculty he joined in 1970. He has served as' a visiting professor' at Stanford and the U.S. Geological Survey.
Dr.
Hornberger received his bachelors and. masters degrees from Drexel University and his doctorate from Stanford.
A member of the Geological Society of. America and the'American Geophysical Union; Dr. Hornberger won the Robert E. Horton Award (Hydrology Section) from the American Geophysical Union in 1993.
The purpose of the ACNW is to provide advice to NRC-on nuclear. waste disposal facilities.
