A right cylindrical stainless steel drum enclosing a fuel basket 3rovided E

with seven (7) cavities. Five (5) of the seven (7) cavities are alocked 4

to prevent their use. The outer shell and lid are fabricated from E

E 11 gauge steel and the base is 1/4" thick plate. The outer lid is held E

in place by six (6), 5/8" bolts and nuts. The basket shell is fabricated 8

5 from 16 gauge stainless steel. The basket top and bottom plates are 8

9 11 gauge stainless steel.

B basket lid (0.125" thick aluminum) in place.

%.....f APPROVAL RECORD Model No. HFBR Unirradiated Fuel Shipping Container Certificate of Compliance No. 9853 Revision No. 11 By application dated July 17, 1996, the Department of Energy (DOE) requested renewal of Certificate of Compliance No. 9853 for Model No. HFBR Unirradiated Fuel Shipping Container package. No changes in package design or contents were requested.

The packaging drawings, operating procedures and maintenance program were reviewed and found to be adequate.

The certificate has been renewed for a five year period which expires October 31, 2001.
