20555 Perry Nuclear Power Plant Docket Nos. 50-440; 50-441 Preoperational Integrated Leakage Rate Test
Dear Mr. Youngblood:
The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company will be performing the Containment Integrated Leakage Rate Test as part of the Initial Test Program. The CILRT and subsequent verification test will be conducted in accordance with 10 CFR 50 Appendix J.
Data analysis will be performed in accordance with ANSI /ANS 56.8 (1981) and Bechtel Corporation Topical Report BN-TOP-1 Rev. 1.
The Bechtel Topical Report BN-TOP-1, Rev. 1, was found acceptable by the NRC, as referenced by letter from R. C. DeYoung to R. D. Allen February 1, 1973.
Based on our evaluation of the Perry Containment and Shield Building, we propose to obtain a satisfactory leakage rate with a minimum eight hours duration and twenty test data points at approximately equal intervals to ensure adequacy of this test.
Discussions with the staff of Containment Systems Branch have indicated this is an acceptable test method. Section 6.2.6.1 of the FSAR will be revised to reflect this information. If you have any questions please call.
Vepy truly yours, 8505300293 850523 Murra Edelman
