Dear Chairman Hill:
Thank you for your courtesy in set: ding me a copy of CEQ's proposed draft revision of 40 CFR 1502.22, the " worst case" analysis regulation, which my colleagues and I have read with interest. Since the draft revision has not yet been issued for public comment, it would be premature to provide definitive agency comments at this time. We note, however, that the approach taken in the proposed amendments appears to be in accord with the general tenor of the NRC staff comments submitted to CEQ on February 15, 1985 in response to the Council's Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on this matter. We believe it would be useful for the Council to obtain public comments on the proposed draft revision and would appreciate being advised when formal rulemaking to amend section 1502.22 is initiated.
