Status of Activities Relating to Decommissioning of the B&W Parks Township (PTS). PA Facility: B&W Apollo. PA Facility: and B&W Shallow Land Disposal Area (SLDA) 1
SUMMARY
- NRC staff provided the following information:
i 1.
Staff review of B&W PTS Decommissioning Plan (DP) would be completed on 10/4: staff will fax a copy of the comments to D. Sgarlata as soon as they 4
are signed-out.
2.
A summary the types of comments.
3.
A heads-up that development, review, and approval of any needed changes to financial assurance may be a critical path item.
4.
Several techniques to expedite comment resolution were discussed including additional tele-conferences and a comment resolution meeting.
All agreed to use these techniques, as needed.
5.
The Federal Register notice (FRN) for the DP review is expected to be released to NRC publications staff late this week.
FRN will likely be i
published the week of 10/14.
Staff will fax a copy to D. Sgarlah as soon as the FRN is signed-out of this Branch.
In addition, staff will forward a 6.py of the as-published FRN.
co NRC has approved an extension to the schedule for publishing a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) for the SLDA to 3/97.
7 Staff has made no progress this week in the release of the Apollo site because of the higher priority placed on the DP. A schedule for completing the release has not been developed.
8.
Until further notice. H. Astwood should be the NRC staff point of contact.
9.
The next tele-conference is scheduled for 10/9/96 @ 11:00 AM.
