REVIEW OF SOVIH CAROLINA ELECTRIC & GAS COMPANY REPORT, " NUCLEAR PHYSICS METHODOLOGY FOR RELOAD DESIGN" (TAC NO. M81683) 1ho guidance given by Generic letter 83-11 encouraged licensees to perform their own core reload nuclear design analyses.

The Generic Letter also requested that licensees submit documentation of the benchmarking of such analyses for staff review.

By letter dated September 3, 1991, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) submitted a request to perform its own reload analyses, along with documentation of the benchmarking of these analyses.

The staff has reviewed your submittal and has determined that you have demonstrated adequate validation; therefore, your request to perform your own reload analyses is approved.

Please be aware, however, that any change from the current fuel vendor that introduces different fuel designs or core operating strategies may require further validation by SCE&G.

The staff's Safety Evaluation of your submittal is enclosed.

This completes the staff's action on TAC No. 81683.
