CANDU 3 PROPRIETARY DOCUMENTATION i
In letters to the NRC dated July 27, 1989,. August 29, 1989, and November 14, 1989, respectively, AECL Technologies submitted the CANDU 3 Technical Outline, the CANDU 3 Conceptual Safety Report (Volumes 1 & 2), and the CANDU 3 Conceptual Probabilistic Safety Assessment.
Significant portions of those documents are marked as proprietary material.
It is the staff's understanding that these documents do not contain pro rietary information, but there is no i
formal documentation from AECL Technolo ies as to whether or not this is true.
This letter requests that you formally provide clarification regarding the 4
classification of the CANDU 3 Technical Outline, CANDU 3 Conceptual Safety Report, and Conceptual Probabilistic Safety Assessment.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
