1.
TVA letter to NRC dated May 7, 1992.
2.
TVA letter to NRC dated November 26, 1086, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant - Detai N Control Room Design Review" The purpose of this letter is to inform NRC of the DCRDR implementation status and results of the Category 3 human engineering deficiencies (HEDs) evaluation for the SQN'DCRDR effort.
Implementation status reporting was conaitted to by Reference 1.
There are 272 Category 3 (uonsafety significant) HEDs identified in Reference 2.
Two additional Category 3 HEDs have been added because.of Category 2 downgrades, as documented in Reference 1..
The following is a breakdown of the resolution of.these items:
124 resolutions complete and implemented 14 implementation planned for Cycle l6 refueling outages 29 required no corrective action (Reference 2) 107 require no corrective action (current evaluation)
The current evaluation decisions were based on operating exporience and plant changes made since the-original HED evaluations. The resolution of-these 107 Category 3.(nonsafety significant) HEDs is no longer cost effective'and will not be~ implemented.
The 'HEDs affected by tilis decision are listed in the enclosure.

4 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 February 4, 1993 TVA has resolved the safety significant (Category 1 and 2) DCRDR HEDs.
TVA will resolve more than one half of the nonsafet> significant (Category 3) HEDS originally identified by the DCRDR effort by the end of the Cycle 6 refueling outages. When implemented, these actions, along with the Category 3 HED cancellations documented in this letter and Reference 2, will complete the DCRDR effort for SQN.
Pleace direct questions concerning this issue to K. C. Weller at (615) 843-7527.
