[h November 14, 1969 NOTE To DAN HULLER HONTICELIA PLANT - RPCI AND RCIC ISOLATION I discussed with Dr. Morris the problem of the HFCI and RCIC isola-tion capability for small breaks and/or large leaks in the system piping for the Monticolto (and Vermont Yankee) plant. We agreed that it is appropriate to tell NSF that the design details of these systems do not show that they have sufficient capability to detect such breaks / leakage and initiate required isolation of the appropriata lines. You should tell NSF that they will need to be able to demonstrate that these systems have adequate isolation capability with the present design or present information on changes that could be made so that failures in these lines could be detected and linos isolated as required.
