Dear Ms. Pearson:
Thank you for your letter dated October 30, 1992, in response to our 1992 review of your radiation control program for agreement materials. -We have evaluated your response and we believe that your proposed changes, when implemented, will enable the program to continue to satisfy the " Guidelines for Nuclear Regulatory Comission (NRC) Review of Agreement State Radiation Control Programs."
In your response, you indicated that the decommissioning rules would be completed by November 1992; however, to date, those regulations have not been adopted. The NRC strongly encourages the Agreement States to maintain compatible regulations.
Therefore, we would appreciate notification from your Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA) Director at the time your proposed regulations become effective.
Your support of the radiation control program is appreciated by the NRC staff and me.
