The Commission met with staff to' discuss what actions, if any,
-NRC-should take in anticipation of'a low level radioactive wasteistorage problem.
.The Commission requested staff.to provide information regarding-the relative. effectiveness of licensee efforts:to reduce volume of' low-level wastes generated and shipped offsite and trends in volume ~ reduction over the'past few~ years. lThe Commission
-further requested information regarding the range in degree of'
- compaction that can be achieved and,to what extent volume may be reduced further by incineration methods.
