VERMONT YANKEE INSPECTION 92 24
This refers to the resident safety inspection conducted by Messrs. H. Eichenholz and
P. Harris on November 29,1992 - January 2,1993, at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power
Station, Vernon, Vermont. The preliminary results of the inspection were discussed with
Mr. D. Reid at the conclusion of the inspection. The inspection focused on issues important
to public health and safety, and consisted of performance observations, the conduct of control
'
room operations, and independent verifications of sJuy aystem status.
During the inspection, we noted safe operation and good efforts to resolve discrepancies
involving fire barrier penetration seals. Enforcement discretion was exercised for an
Appendix B corrective action violation involving a service water pump motor heater
deficiency. Your recent corrective actions were comprehensive and the under. ired heater
had no effect upon pump operability.
