DPR 42 50 306 DPR 60 License Amendment Request Dated January 29, 1993 Core Exit Thermocouple Action Statement Chantes Attached is a request for a change to the Technical Specifications, Appendix A of the Operating Licenses, for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.

This request is submitted in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR Part 50, Section 50.90.

i This license amendment request proposes the addition of specific action. f statements to Section 3.15.A of the Technical Specifications for the core exit j thermocouples. These proposed action statements, which are based on the i guidance in the Revised Westinghouse Standard Technical Specifications, would i allow continued plant operation with less than the total required number of  ;

core exit thermocouples operable provided a minimum number of thermocouples .,

per core quadrant remain operable, certain therrnocouple radial distribution h requirements are met and a report is submitted to the Commission outlining-the action taken, the cause of the inoperability, and the plans and schedule for "

restoring the system to operable status.-

hazards determination. Exhibit B contains currsnt Prairie Island Technical -'

Specification pagos marked up to show the proposed changes. Exhibit C contains the revised Technical Specification pages.

In summary, we find the attached proposed changes to the Prairie Island Technical Specifications in the best interest of the health and safety of the public. This document contains no new NRC commitments.
