MAY 171985 Note to Files Docket No.70-371 4A/Q.
MTED iiUCLEAR CCRPORATION, NAVAL PRODUCTS On May 7,1985. G. H. Bidinger and E. Y. Shum, NMSS, called W. Kirk, UNC-NP, to discuss the requirements of Condition 30 of the License SNM-368.
Mr. Bidinger told Mr. Kirk that the UNC letter dated April 1935 did not satisfy Condition 30. Dr. Shum stated that pathway analyses were needed.
Mr. Kirk described the treatment of the spent acid as follows: The acid is neutralized, precipitated and filtered. The filtrate is released to the sewer and the solids are buried onsite at the waste treatment facility.
Dr. Shum said we needed information to evaluate the air pathway dose to man and to assess the uranium activity in the precipitate against our BTP.
Mr. Kirk said he did not know UNC's measurement capabilities. Mr. Luster, UNC, would call Dr. Shum the next day.
Mr. Bidinger told Mr. Kirk that we needed this infonnation quickly or we would have to terminate the authorization to dispose of spent acid containing uranium.
