Dear Dr. Murley:
Reference (a) provided a status Update of Commonwealth Edison Company's (CECO's) impler , ntation of SBO related procedural and hardware modifications at Zion Station, in Inis ceference, CECO had developed a listing of equipment required to respond to a SBO event. A limited number of components were identified as not being covered by an existing QA program. C:ECo committed to include these components in a OA program that would meet or exceed the guidance of RG 1.155 by November 30, 1992. Reference (b) orovided the NRC's supplemental Safety Evaluation Report (SER) concerning SBO a this reference, the NRC referenced CECc's commitment to incorporate thesr. components into a OA program.
This commitment will not be completed by November 30,1992 as originally planned. An extension is necessary to complete appropriate technical review and complete resolution of QA program changes, procedure changes, and enmporient classifications regarding the equipment utilized in response to a SBO ever.t. The revised com aletion date for this commitment is April 3,1993. This date is consistent with the imp'ementation schedule requirements identified in 10 CFR 50.63 and Reference (b).
