l At the Quad Cities 76 walls were considered to be safety-related and

therefore required evaluation pursuant to I.E.Bulletin 80-11. All but two walls were evaluated in accordance with the NRC's acceptance criteria. All necessary modifications were completed for this set of walls. The two remaining walls - Ql-647-13HJ15 and Q1-666-173-171 (walls 15 and 171) were qualified by arching theory which the NRC has not to date found acceptable.
In order to close this issue with the NRC, Commonwealth Edison has decided to modify these two remaining safety-related walls using acceptable design criteria as defined in our previous submittals. The modifications to both walls will be completed by September 27, 1985.
To date, CECO has not received formal acceptance from the NRC of any of our actions to close out I.E.Bulletin 80-11 at Quad Cities Station. With our commitment to modify walls 15 and 171, we request receipt of an expedited ER forinally closing this issue.
