i in rouponse to your donial of my petition, I would lixo to submit some additionril *.nformation conestning my petition in order that you will reconsidor your decision and permit me to intervene in the hoaring to be hold on May 25, 1967 My internet in the proceeding centers upon the tremendous burden of radioactivity to which the approxirr.ately 1,800,00J roeidente of the Minnonpolia-st. paul metropolitan area will be subjected upon construction and operation of this facility. Guarantees of public health and safety are lacking in this proposal, and in view of the enormous potential for serious harm to the public from the proposed feuilty, it is my intention to soak rollef for the affected publio.
Commionion action could have a damaging offect upon the area if considerations of public f.afety and wolfare continue to be placed in secondary importance to the economic welfare of the applicant.
Another conoideration I widh to havo ontored in your deliberatione is the staccoring thermal load which will be placed upon the Mississippi River if this plant is permittod to be constructed ao proposed. Water temperatures in the vicinity of the proposed facility cro now at a level favorable to large numbors of beneficial forms of aquatic life. Granting of the construction permit would hvo sorious ramifications for these formu of life.
