SUMMARY
OF EMERGENCY PLANNING MEETING ON V0GTLE On March 11, 1985, the staff met with the applicant to discuss the Vogtle Emergency Plan. Participants are listed in Enclosure 1.
The staff suggested that the applicant make prearrangements for long-term care of the general public for high levels of radioactivity based on a recent decision related to San Onofre. The staff further suggested that the appli-cant's emergency planning exercise should be on a schedule consistent with any
' hearings.on the subject.
The staff provided specific, detailed comments on the Emergency Plan to which the applicant needs to respond. Staff comments included:
(1) The applicant must provide larger, more legible maps.
(2) The applicant's Emergency Action Level classification scheme must arrive at the same event classification as the staff.
(3) The communications with Burke County need to be more clearly explained.
(4) Appendix 8 regarding public information needs to be more complete, better organized, and consistent with information throughout the plan.
(5) The plan must contain a description of how whole body and thyroid doses are determined including model descriptions.
(6) Assembly areas-(the recreation area and Plant Wilson) need to be further discussed.
The applicant stated that it would be ready to discuss preliminary changes to the Emergency Plan in approximately 6 weeks.
