SUMMARY
OF MEETING HELD ON APRIL 8, 1976 WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE MARK I OWNERS GROUP On April 8,1976, a meeting was held in Bethesda with representatives of the Mark I Owners Group, the General Electric Company, and their consultants. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plant specific analyses of the Mark I torus support structure. A list of meeting attendees is shown on the enclosure.
Summary The Mark I Owners Group and their consultants believe that there is 19 to 24% conservatism in the downward Most Probable Loads (MPL) to be used in the plant specific analyses.
They believe that they can demonstrate
.a structural factor of safety of at least two in the downward direction without taking credit for the conservatisms.

Meeting Sumary 1
1 We stated that in the upward direction, a multiplier of 1.5 should be applied on the upward MPL to take into account the uncertainty and sensitivity l'
of the upward loads. Conservatisas-that may exist in the-upward MPL i
- can be taken into consideration if they are proper y justified to the NRC.
l GE representatives discussed their assessment of the conservatisas in' the MPL. We stated that additional justification of the conservatisms 1
l would be required.
