This letter requests that the above referenced certificate of Compliance be renewed.

" Shield Inserts for 14-215 Cask" Scientific Ecology Group Drawing No. STD-02-086 Revision 0 The above documents comprise the conuolidated application for the renewal of the Certificate of Compliance. With the exception. of minor hardware changes being incorporated for convenience of operation, no changes have been made to the qualification analysis or other commitments made in earlier revisions of'the documents.
The h0rdware changes amount to the optional use of-Acme type screw threads on the ratchet binder threaded parts and the modification-of the gasket on the primary lid to avoid interference'with the vent port passage.

i The change of the ratchet binder thread parts allow the optional use of 1-1/4-inch diamator Acmo scrow thread in place of the specified 1-1/4-inch x 12 UHF. The Acmo thread, with 5 threads por inch, providos for the casier operation of the ratchot binder t
should the threads becomo contaminated with road grit or debris.
The Acmo throads resist binding during servico due to the self-cleaning design of the threads. Ratchet binders with Acme threads-are already used on the majority of the licensed casks utilizing this type of closure.
The modification of the primary lid gasket allows the gasket to be reduced in width, with no loss of seal integrity, where the vont passage oxits the bottom of the lid. This chango is to provent the gaskot from covering the vont passage and interfering with the leak testing of the cask.
i These changes do not adversely affact the safe operation of the cask and no changes to the cask safety analysis report resulted from them.
