Enclosed is an application for an export license (XSNM02730), recently received by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, for the export of low-enriched uranium for use as reload fuel for Ohi Unit No. 3, Region SA/C, in Japan.

Assurances from the Government of Japan are required that the material will be subject to all of the-terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation.

Y.our assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.

Please note that a portion of the material is of Australian and Canadian origin.

Dear Ms. Wright:

I attach for your kind consideration an application to export uranium as uranium hexafluoride to Japan for use as reload fuel in the Oh-I power station, Unit 3, owned by The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.

Please note that the total material cpantity of 37,073 Kg of uranium at 4.15%

enrichment with 1,522 Kg U235 is composed of two material quantities: 35,918 Kg uranium at 4.15% enrietynent with 1,491 Kg U235 and 1,155 Kg uranium at 2.65% enrichment with 31 Kg U235.

In compliance with the final rule published in the July 23, 1992 Federal Register, please find enclosed the application fee of $3,100.
