Subject:
Mocting on Changes to EPA 400 Protective Action Guidelines Duquesne Light Company (DLC), the licensee for the 3eaver Valley Power Station, is hosting a round table meeting on January 28 and 29,
- 1993, to develop a consensus approach to implementing the changes of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 400 Protective Action Guidelines (PAGs).
This approach should allow implementation of the new requirements prior to the January 1,
- 1994, duc date.
DLO currently anticipates attendance from the Nuclear Management and Resources Council (NUMARC),
all Pennsylvania and Ohio nuclear utilities, and the Emergency Management Agencies and their technical agency counterparts from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.
An invitation to attend is being extended to Maryland officials by the Philadelphia Electric Company.
DLC is cognizant of the effort between Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and NUMARC in the development of the white
- paper,
" Implementation of the New EPA PACS in Existing Emergency Programs."
Additionally, DLC recognizes the white paper's potential role in providing cost effective implementation suggestions for the new PAG guidance in the arcan of dvse assessment, emergency action levels, and emergency worker exposure control during the initial phase of an emergency response effort.
Because of NRR's involvement in this
- incue, DLC would like to extend an invitation to Aby Mohseni and Falk Kantor of the Emergency Preparedness staff to attend and observe the round table discussions.
The meeting will be held at the DLC Joint Public Information Center (JPIC).
The meeting will begin at Ell: 00 a.m.
on Thursday, January 28, 1993.
A preliminary agenda is attached as well as a list of local accommodations and a map of the area.
