ORAFT PROPOSED OBJECTIVES OF NARUC/NRC DIALOGUE Attached for your consideration is a draft of-proposed objectives for NPC's continuing dialogue with the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARVC).
I have scheduled meetings with representatives from State utility regulatory comissions in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois and Georgia to discuss the proposed objectives.
1 intend to provide them with a copy of the draft proposed objectives as a discussion piece on April 15, 1992. Also attached for your information is a schedule of my meetings.

DIREI_P20EOSED OBJECTlYIS 0f_f!MWClNRC__ DIALQ@E DELLEAL_ STATEMENT The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and State utility regulatory commissions under the auspices of the National Association of Kogulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) have a common interest in safe and economic nuclear power plant construction and operations.
While reco9.*'ing that the NRC and State utility regulatory commissions have distinct regulatory responsibilities, NRC and NARUC further recognize the value of a continuing dialogue between the economic regulators and the nafety regulator.
In this regard, focused discussions between NARUC and NRC to identify areas where exchanges of information would be beneficial to State utility regulatory commissions and NRC in carrying out their respective responsibilities.
QD2ICI12I The objective of this NARUC/NRC dialogue is to improve the exchange of information between NARUC or individual Stato utility regulatory commission 1 and NRC by:
- Identifying issues of common interest;
- Determining which istues should be pursued and where exchanges of information would benefit NARUC and NRC; and
- Identifying possible methods of information exchange.
A list of potential issues for discusalon is attached.
