The Sr-90 contamination is not a problem at this site because the concentrations measured are below the proposed EPA standard based on a dose of 4 mrem /yr effective whole body equivalent The licensee will be requeste; to establish a monitoring program to measure nitrate concentrations from 20-30 select-USGS wells on an annual basis for 5 years The decision of which specific wells to be monitored will be worked out between the-State of Rhode Island and the licensee The licensee will conduct the monitoring program through the establishment of a contract or other suitable arrangement with the USGS, State of Rhode Island or other entity suitable to the State of Rhode Island The licensee is to report to the State at the end of the 5 years on the behavior and destiny of the plume Once the contract or other suitable. arrangement to perform the monitoring is in place, NRC will terminate the license We request your confirmation that this arrangement is acceptable to the State of Rhode Island.
