Dear Sir:

Subject:

Special Report Limiting conditions for operation (LC0) 3.7.9 of the Trojan Tect.nical Specifications requires that a special report be provided if certain fire barrier penetrations become nonfunctional and cannot be returned to a functional status within seven days.

As a result of performing planned maintenance, a three-hour rated pene-tration between the 69-foot elevation in the Turbine Building and the east switchgear room was intentionally made nonfunctional for a period longer than seven days. The fire detectors on one side of the nonfunctional barrier were verified to be operable and an hourly fire watch was placed on duty for the entire time the penetration fire barrier was nonfunctional.

Permanent corrective action was completed on May 25, 1985, with the restoration of the barrier to functional status.
