REPORTS TO AEC ON TWO PROJECTS The Atomic Energy Commission has received reports from its Advisory Co==ittee on Reactor Safeguards concerning two nuclear power projects.

They are the Connecticut Yankee nuclear plant nearing completion at Haddam Neck, Connecticut, and the proposed Northern States Power Company facility at Monticello, Minnesota.

Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Cocpany, composed of 12 Nov England 3

, -s-utilities, is building a h62,000 net electrical kilowatt nuclear plant at Haddam Neck, about 21 miles southeast of Hartford. The facility has a pressurized water reactor. Connecticut Yankee has applied to the AEC for a license to be5 1n operation of the plant.

Northern States Power Company of Minneapolis has applied to the Commission for a permit to construct a boiling water reactor at the company's I.

site about three miles northwest of Monticello. The facility vould have a g

net electrical output of about 471,700 kilowatts.

The A50 Regulatory Staff is continuing its review of those two applica-tiona. The reports of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safe 6uards are

- attached.
