Completion of Modifications to Mitigate the Consequences of Interior Flooding at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant In correspondence dated September 28, 1972, August 24, 1973, and September 10, 1973, Northern States Power Company. committed to two modifications to enhance
- i interior flood protection at the Monticello Plant:
Flood probes in the condenser hotwell area and in the circulating a.
water pump bay with alarms in the control room and automatic trip of circulating water pumps on high level in either area, b.
Upgrading of the condensate transfer lines in the Reactor Building basement and HPCI Room to seismic category I equivalent.
As noted in our letter of December 10, 1975, these modifications were completed during the Autumn 1975 refueling outage with the exception of the automatic circulating vater pump trip.
Because of delays in the equipment procurement process, necessary material was not available to complete this portion of the modifications.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the automatic circulating water pump trip has now been installed and tested.
This completes our interior flooding evaluation and modification program for the Monticello Plant.
