A To the Sicietary of the conungssion, I am a y chigan resident opposed to dry cask storage of high-level nucicar waste at Palisades nuclear opwer plant.
Without general public notification or imput we have been
' sited for a high-level waste dump, 150 yds. from 1.ake Michigan, 1/5 the world's fresh water. This deadly vaste cannot be stored safely anywhere, so we will most likely be ja permanent regional dump. flD! The D.O.E. has stated theyi vill not be liable for these wastes if an interim site is not built by 1998, a date ths Covernment Accounting Office states is unlikely. Therefore 1 ask fort
- 1. full democratic process in the crucial decision.
- 2. full public hearings held in the sited area.
- 4. a full cost / benefit analysis be done examing the cost of nuclear power and examine other sources of energy.
